BUFFALO, NY, UNITED STATES, October 8, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Trellis Marketing, Inc. has been selected by Washington County, New York to develop and launch a public awareness campaign focused on the dangers youth vaping, nicotine addiction, and the associated health risks.— Catharine McCracken, Founder & CEO of Trellis Marketing
Through this engagement, Trellis provides strategic creative and digital media services, producing customized public service announcements (PSAs), educational materials, a county-specific resource landing page, and a targeted media campaign across video, broadcast, outdoor, digital, and social platforms. The campaign is designed to reach youth, parents, caregivers, and the broader community with accessible information about the health risks of youth vaping and nicotine addiction. The campaign is tailored to meet Washington County’s specific goals and budget.
"Vaping continues to pose significant health risks, particularly for our youth, and we recognize the importance of providing residents with accurate information and access to resources," said Tina McDougall, Director of Public Health, Washington County, New York. "Through this campaign, we hope to raise awareness about the dangers of nicotine addiction, encourage informed decision-making, and connect individuals and families with support services available in our community."
The initiative leverages allowable JUUL settlement funding to deliver high-impact, community-focused prevention resources supporting efforts by counties, schools, and organizations across New York State to protect youth health and wellness.
“We are honored to be selected by Washington County for this important campaign,” said Catharine McCracken, President of Trellis Marketing. “Building on our experience supporting youth vaping prevention efforts in partnership with counties and organizations across New York State, we are proud to bring that experience to Washington County and help connect its residents with information that can make a meaningful difference.”
The campaign is supported by the New York State Association of Counties (NYSAC), which has worked alongside counties across New York State to encourage strategic, evidence-based investments of JUUL settlement funding.
“Our research shows an 18.7% youth vaping rate in New York State—nearly double the 10% national average and a serious public health concern,” said Steve Acquario, Executive Director of NYSAC. “We commend Washington’s leadership in confronting this crisis and are proud to endorse this PSA campaign, which highlights the dangers of vaping, its associated health risks, and how it is a gateway to nicotine addiction.”
The Vaping Awareness & Education Program developed out of the Opioid Awareness & Education Program which began in 2018, when members of the New York State Coroners Association raised concerns about the rising number of overdose deaths and sought to take action. In collaboration with NYSAC, Trellis Marketing helped develop an award-winning creative campaign and cost-effective media strategy to deliver critical public health messaging across New York State.
While the total number of young people who vape has declined from its 2019 peak, those who continue to vape may face significant challenges related to nicotine dependence and quitting. Today's landscape is increasingly characterized by high-nicotine, flavored disposable devices that can be easily concealed and, in many cases, are illegally sold. The campaign also addresses the broader health and behavioral concerns associated with youth vaping and nicotine addiction.
This initiative reflects Trellis Marketing’s ongoing commitment to addressing addiction and mental health challenges throughout New York State, working alongside local governments and organizations to drive meaningful community impact through strategic public health communications.
