Enjoy the Versatility and Flavor of Fruits and Veggies

One of the most common things people believe when trying to eat better is that a highly regimented and restrictive diet is the only way to achieve a healthy lifestyle. In reality, one of the best ways to improve your current diet is by addition, not subtraction. Instead of thinking about what you need to remove from your diet to make it healthier, shift your thinking to what foods you might add to make your diet more diverse and well-rounded.

In honor of National Fruits and Veggies Month, we want to share how fruits and vegetables can be perfect additions to ANY diet. While you may already know about the multitude of health benefits fruits and veggies provide, such as the addition of fiber, vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants, you may be less aware of the amazing versatility that they offer. In one form or another, you can incorporate a fruit or vegetable into almost any meal or snack imaginable. In addition to adding loads of flavor and color, fruits and vegetables also greatly improve the nutritional content of your diet.

Here are some great ways to add fruits and veggies into your daily life:

  • Include a serving of veggies, such as a handful of kale or spinach, in your morning smoothie.
  • Add a side of roasted veggies, such as broccoli or Brussels sprouts, to any dish.
  • Garnish vegetables with balsamic vinegar or parmesan cheese for added flavor.
  • Enjoy a bowl of berries or watermelon as a sweet end to the evening.
  • Pack a bag of apple, orange, or pear slices in your work or school bag for a terrific, on-the-go snack.
  • Use veggies like tomatoes, lettuce, or avocado to transform common sandwiches into something special.
