Born in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Briana moved to Sweden at the age of nine. Her early childhood was marked by extraordinary circumstances. From approximately age two to four, she was separated from her family after being kidnapped during the war because of her family’s political background. Nearly two years later, she was found in the countryside, where a United Nations presence ultimately helped reconnect her with her mother. Her mother, who had been searching for her, located her shortly after she had been found. Her journey later took her through the diverse cultures and languages of France and into the competitive creative landscape of Los Angeles. Those experiences now inform a sound that moves fluidly between Afro-Pop, Afrobeats, urban pop and hip-hop while incorporating Swedish, English and French as natural extensions of her identity.

“I describe myself as a global creator,” Briana says. “Growing up in Sweden and creating across different borders taught me that identity is fluid. I switch between Swedish, English and French not as a strategy, but as a pure form of self-expression.”

“Touch” began in the studio when Briana heard an instrumental created by Aznar and was asked what she wanted the song to be about. Her immediate answer was her future soulmate. From there, the record developed into a fantasy built around visualization, manifestation, telepathy and the possibility that two people can be searching for one another before they ever meet.

Beneath its flirtatious and sensual energy, however, the song asks a more vulnerable question: If someone truly finds you, will they love all of you rather than simply the life they see from the outside?

“If I had to pick one lyric that grounds the song, it’s ‘Do you like me or my lifestyle?’” Briana explains. “It asks, if you really knew me, would you still love me? I need a partner who respects my drive and loves my soul, my history and my work ethic, not just the glamorous exterior.”

That vulnerability carries particular weight for an artist whose early life and later experiences forced her to develop resilience. Briana has spoken about surviving traumatic experiences, including being kidnapped during the war as a young child and later encountering another frightening situation connected to what she believed was an entertainment opportunity. Music ultimately became a place where she could process experiences that were difficult to explain in ordinary conversation.

For Briana, “Touch” also represents an evolution away from creating solely from a place of survival.

“For a long time, my music was about survival,” she says. “‘Touch’ was the first time I started asking myself: Can I be vulnerable again? Can I fall in love and dream about something beautiful without being terrified of losing it?”

The record was written by Briana Nancie, also credited as Nancie Ngouanou, with the instrumental and beat arrangement created by Aznar. Rather than following a rigid writing process, Briana built the song intuitively, recording ideas and verses before editing them down until only what she describes as the emotional truth remained.

The official “Touch” music video, directed by SLK Films, extends that emotional world visually through fashion, movement and imagery. The video translates the record’s themes of manifestation, finding a soulmate, deep attraction and personal confidence into a stylized visual experience that reflects Briana’s belief that music, fashion, performance and visual storytelling should exist together.

“When people hear ‘Touch,’ I want the immediate reaction to be feeling fully alive,” Briana says. “Dance, flirt, feel desirable, feel sensual and lose yourself in the music. But underneath that, I want the message to remind people that you don’t have to change who you are or hide your scars to be worthy of love.”

“Someone in Sweden, France, America or somewhere I’ve never even been doesn’t need to have lived my life to understand attraction, vulnerability, fantasy or the desire to be chosen for who they really are,” she says. “I’m excited to give ‘Touch’ another life through this U.S. campaign.”

Briana cites Drake, Ariana Grande, SZA, Bruno Mars, Snoop Dogg and Quincy Brown among her influences, drawing inspiration from artists who maintain a recognizable identity while moving between music, fashion, performance and entertainment.
